The Importance of Good Running Shoes for Me
The Importance of Good Running Shoes for Me! My exercise regime is inside my home gym. I do the treadmill and include different treadmill workouts weekly. There was a time when I couldn’t workout at all due to severe and painful heel pain. It came on suddenly after one of my workouts. I tired to ignore the pain and continued running until I couldn’t put any pressure on my heel at all. My exercise regime halted because I could barely walk in my foot let alone try and run on it. I gave my foot a week or so to feel better. When it did I would try and exercise again only to have the heel pain return.
I started to research on the internet and later confirmed with my doctor I had Plantar Fasciitis. The symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis are a sharp and deep pain in the middle of your heel or arch. It is caused by over doing your workouts without stretching properly, especially your calf muscles or caused by the mechanics of your foot. Plantar Fasciitis can be from poor fitting running shoes, poor foot structure, or increase running. The cause of my Plantar Fasciitis is from the structure of my feet with super high arches and wearing worn out tennis shoes. My heels were receiving a lot of pressure, so good shoes are really important.
I went to specialty shoe stores and spent so much money on braces and ugly shoes with custom shoe inserts. Nothing helped and I was suffering with pain. After about two months of wobbling around I came across a New Balance brick and mortar store and went in. I stood on their special machine that took pictures of all the pressure points on the bottom of my feet. The sales associate then matched the shoes to how my feet are. I purchased a pair of New Balance with arch support inserts and extra cushion socks. I wore them out and wore them continually everywhere! Even in the house and within a week my heel was better!
New Balance Shoes saved me!
I was able to go back to my normal exercise regime and I have been sold on New Balance ever since. Since then, I have gotten to know the lady that owns the local New Balance store. She keeps a record of when I purchase new shoes and the type of running shoe I buy. I know when I need a new pair of running shoes because my Plantar Fasciitis starts to act up. Believe me I am in buying a new pair because I know what happens if I leave it. One thing I should mention is it is better to go to a New Balance brick and mortar store over your local sporting goods store. The New Balance stores are very familiar and knowledgeable with their merchandise. They can give you the help you need, especially with specific needs. Having the right running shoes and taking the time to stretch is the most important treatment plan. Especially if you suffer from Plantar Fasciitis.
