Gatlinburg, TN and the Great Smoky Mountains
Gatlinburg, TN and the Great Smoky Mountains is a magical place that I can’t wait to visit again. It was the first trip I’ve ever taken to the mountains and it was amazing. Gatlinburg, Tennessee is located right outside the Great Smoky Mountain trails. We stayed at the Bearskin Lodge in their newly renovated rooms, and were only minutes from the trails. The rooms featured fireplaces and was right on a creek from the mountains, providing a cozy mountain feel. The atmosphere is definitely different than Florida and something I really enjoyed.
The mountain air is soothing and the trails in the mountains are breathtaking! My favorite place was Cades Cove! You can walk up to the log cabins the farmers used to live and see the magic of ordinary days they had. The views were breathtaking and it was rich in history. We also saw bears and bear cubs! The black bears are large and amazing creatures to look at from afar! We were driving through one of the main roads up the mountains and from our car we were only a few feet from one of the bears! Granted, we stayed in our car!
We also went up to Clingmen’s Dome and from there you are on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee at once! From there you can also go down the Appalachian Trial! It was an amazing place to visit and truly an inspiring trip.
You could feel His presence in the breathtaking mountain views and to see such a different culture was amazing. The weather wasn’t too cold, but I am looking forward to going when it’s snowing out.
In conclusion, I definitely recommend making a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. You will fall in love with the surrounds and never want to leave. To see the cabins and the wildlife is like you are in a whole other world. I’ve never been to the mountains, and this trip was really one of my favorite places to go.
